QRIS Fee Rate of 0.3 Percent Does Not Disrupt MSME Onboardin

Special Staff to the Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs for Creative Economy Empowerment, Fiki Satari, said that the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) tariff of 0.3 percent imposed on MSMEs does not affect the target of 30 million MSMEs who can onboard digitally. 2024

"I am sure that Bank Indonesia (BI) charges fees to MSME players in direct proportion to what BI has so far facilitated for the development of MSMEs," said Fiki when contacted in Jakarta, Tuesday.

Fiki said that until 2023, the orientation process for MSMEs to use QRIS will not experience any obstacles. Based on data from the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, there will already be 22 million MSMEs using QRIS in 2023.

"Everything is on track," said Fiki.

For your information, Bank Indonesia has implemented a new Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) for QRIS services for micro business actors of 0.3 percent which will take effect from July 1, 2023.

Meanwhile, Secretary General of the Indonesian MSME Association (Akumindo) Edy Misero said that having an MSME orientation would make it easier for MSME players to develop their businesses to a larger scale.

“Now the majority of people's shopping patterns are digital. "With QRIS, we can adjust transactions to people's current shopping patterns," said Edy.

Edy assesses that the application of these tariffs does not burden MSMEs. According to Edy, if the sales profit margin is 10 percent, the seller makes a profit of 9.7 percent even though there is a 0.3 percent discount.

"If QRIS doesn't exist and people don't buy it, then they won't get any benefits at all," said Edy.

Answering journalists' questions, Edy asked the government to facilitate MSME players in regions that have obstacles in entering MSMEs into the digital ecosystem.

"If the government wants to realize the target of entering 30 million MSMEs into the digital ecosystem, please facilitate it. "Rich internet signal or digital literacy for MSMEs in the regions," said Edy.
