Samsung introduced generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology called Samsung Gauss on the second day of the Samsung AI Forum 2023 which was held in Seoul, South Korea, Wednesday.
"We will continue to support and collaborate with industry and academia in generative artificial intelligence research," said Samsung Research Global AI Center Executive Vice President Daehyun Kim, quoted from an article released by Samsung Newsroom, Wednesday.
The name Samsung Gauss was inspired by Carl Friedrich Gauss, a mathematician who developed the normal distribution theory which is now the basis for the development of machine learning and AI. The South Korean gadget manufacturer developed this artificial intelligence technology into three models, namely Samsung Gauss Language, Samsung Gauss Code and Samsung Gauss Image.
Samsung Gauss Language is a language-based generative artificial intelligence model that can improve users' work efficiency by facilitating email writing, document summarization, and translation.
Meanwhile, Samsung Gauss Code is used in internal development of Samsung software. This technology helps software developers to code easily and quickly and supports code description and test case generation through interactive interfaces.
Meanwhile, Samsung Gauss Image is a generative image technology that can easily produce and edit creative images, change and add styles to images, and convert low resolution images into high resolution images.
Samsung Gauss is currently only used internally to help employee productivity. In the near future, Samsung will expand the use of AI technology in various applications made by the technology company to provide new user experiences.
Not only developing artificial intelligence technology, Samsung is also working to ensure the safe use of AI through the AI Red Team by improving the ability to proactively eliminate and monitor security and privacy issues.
Apart from introducing Samsung Gauss, the second day of the Samsung AI Forum 2023 also featured presentations from various artificial intelligence technology development experts from OpenAI, Seoul National University, Korea University, and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology.
