


Qualcomm introduces the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 mobile platform, this chipset brings the generative artificial intelligence capabilities of the high-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 to mid-range smartphones, along with several other significant improvements.
The latest chipset from Qualcomm is produced with TSMC's 4nm process technology and has a 1+3+4 CPU architecture. The primary core operates up to 2.63 GHz, while three performance cores run at 2.4 GHz, and four efficiency cores operate at 1.8 GHz.
Qualcomm claims that Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 offers a nearly 15 percent increase in CPU performance and a jump in GPU performance of more than 50 percent compared to the previous generation, Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. This chipset also offers 20 percent better power savings.
In the realm of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 with its Hexagon NPU delivers a 60 percent increase in AI performance per watt, introducing INT4 precision support for the first time in the 7 series.
Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 also includes a number of new features, such as support for Google Ultra HDR image format on Android 14, improved AI-based face detection, spatial audio with head tracking, and a multi-device Snapdragon Seamless experience.
There's also ongoing support for shooting from three cameras simultaneously, and a new “AI Remosaic” feature that eliminates grainy coloring for higher-resolution results with more vibrant colors.
Connectivity-wise, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 features a Snapdragon X63 5G modem for up to 5 Gbps downloads, and supports WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.
Honor and Vivo are among the smartphone manufacturers planning to use Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 in their upcoming devices.
Honor is expected to launch the Honor 100 with Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, while Vivo is likely to use the chip in its V30 series of smartphones. This was broadcast by Gizmochina, Friday (17/11) local time.
