Telegram, a popular instant messaging app and WhatsApp competitor, released its Stories feature for premium users last month, and now the feature is available to everyone.
The announcement regarding the availability of the Stories feature for everyone on Telegram comes as the company celebrates its 10th anniversary, as reported by the Gizmochina page, Tuesday. The Stories feature on Telegram is similar to what other platforms such as Facebook, Snapchat or Instagram offer under the name Stories.
However, unlike other platforms, Telegram has one different feature, namely that users can edit Stories after they have been uploaded. Telegram Stories also have several customizable options, including the ability to choose who can see the story, how long the story will last, and whether the story can be saved by other people.
Premium users also have access to additional features, such as the ability to view other people's Stories in incognito mode, a permanent viewing history, and the ability to save Stories to their gallery.
The company said in a blog post, “This is the most requested feature in Telegram history – and we have spent several months innovating and perfecting the format. Telegram Stories has everything you could hope for – and more that's never been done before.”
To use this new feature, users just need to open the Telegram application and tap the “Stories” icon located on the bottom bar. From there, they start creating a new story by tapping the “+” icon, and once finished, choose who can see it by tapping the “Share” button or setting a timer for how long the story will be available for others to see.
