Samsung explains the “new era of Galaxy AI” that will be present in its smartphone lineup includes a feature that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to translate phone calls in real time.
“Galaxy AI is a comprehensive mobile AI experience, powered by on-device AI developed at Samsung and cloud-based AI made possible by our open collaboration with like-minded industry leaders,” Samsung wrote in a blog post Thursday.
“This will transform everyday mobile experiences with the peace of mind that Galaxy security and privacy rely on,” he added.
The live translation feature, which Samsung calls “AI Live Translate Call,” will be built into the phone app.
Audio and text translations will appear on the device in real-time as the user speaks during the call.
Samsung says Galaxy AI will be available in early 2024, the same year as the planned launch of the Samsung Galaxy S24 smartphone.
“AI Live Translate Call will soon provide users of the latest Galaxy AI phones with a personal translator whenever they need it. "Because it is integrated into the native calling feature, the hassle of having to use third-party applications is eliminated," wrote Samsung.
Furthermore, Samsung also guarantees privacy security from using this feature. Where the company claims that private conversations including the resulting translation will not be spread and will only be stored on the user's smartphone.
“Because it's Galaxy AI in the device, you can trust that no matter the scenario, private conversations will never leave your phone,” claims Samsung.
